The Harkins Method™ Signature Gait-Training Belt for Pediatrics was inspired by something deeply personal to Shawnee's work: seeing a need in pediatric rehabilitation and asking how to create a better solution.
While working with pediatric neuro clients, Shawnee wanted a gait-training belt that offered more padding, greater torso coverage, multiple points of support, and — most importantly — a fit designed specifically around the individual child.
The pediatric Signature Gait-Training Belt features a wide, fully padded construction designed to provide comfortable torso support during appropriately supervised mobility and rehabilitation activities.
It includes five strategically positioned reinforced handles, providing caregivers, trainers, rehabilitation professionals, and parents with multiple grip locations when assisting a child during standing, transfers, mobility exercises, functional movement, and gait training.

Every pediatric belt is individually made from the measurements provided at purchase so that the equipment can be created around the child it is intended to support.

Required Measurements — Handcrafted, Made-to-Order
Because this belt is handcrafted and custom made, please measure carefully before submitting your order. You will need to provide three circumference measurements in inches:
- Lower Chest / Upper Torso Circumference — measure completely around the torso immediately underneath the chest/breast line.
- Natural Waist Circumference — measure completely around the natural waist at its narrowest comfortable point.
- Abdominal / Navel Circumference — measure completely around the abdomen directly across the belly button.
Measurements should be taken with a soft measuring tape, with the child in their normal posture and over light clothing. The tape should lie flat against the body without being pulled excessively tight or left loose.
